Fox 5 News covers AAHP "Testing by the Hundreds" Campaign kick-off |
On Thursday June 16, 2011, AAHP hosted its "Testing by the Hundreds" Campaign kick-off at the Silver Spring Civic Building in downtown Silver Spring. The campaign's ambitious goal is to have 1,000 African Americans from Montgomery County tested by National HIV Testing Day June 27, 2012. The event featured a panel discussion of federal, county, and community representatives on HIV/AIDS facts, current awareness practices and comprehensive strategies to combat the challenges that prevent individuals from getting tested. The discussion was facilitated by Sheila Stewart, News Anchor and Community Affairs Director for Radio One.
Representatives from several organizations were on hand to listen, to be engaged, and to understand the critical role that they can play as a community leader to help stop the spread of HIV in Montgomery County. Each person received an AAHPCARES resource guide to serve as a starter tool kit to help jump start their outreach activities.
Representatives will also attend a post-event discussion on Thursday July 7th to take their place as advocates for HIV/AIDS awareness and promote HIV testing. If you or your organization are interested in attending, contact 240-777-1833 for more information.

AAHP launches its Restaurant Coaster Campaign in observance of World AIDS Day |

The African American Health Program has launched its Restaurant Coaster Campaign in observance of World AIDS Day on December 1st. Five thousand drink Coasters have been ordered and will soon be distributed to local restaurants in order to spread awareness on HIV prevention to their patrons. |
